https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=394567 Summary: when opensuse updater updates itself, it should remember abandoned transaction Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Alpha 0 Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jakub.rusinek@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- many times when I tried to update opensuse I noticed that transaction I selected is abandoned because of opensuse-updater update and it is not bringed back with start of updated opensuse-updater app. I think it's quite clear. if not, read steps below. * open updater; * select transaction (uncheck some things); * update (ensure opensuse-updater will be updated too); * wait for startup of updated opensuse-updater; * scroll through transaction and check if unchecked things are still unchecked. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Therefore this behavior isn't essentially needed. This feature request sounds like a very individual concern. If you're interested in this feature please feel free to provide a patch. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Which patches did you select and which were actually installed? What do you expect to be retained to the next session? If YaST has a patch requiring restart of itself, it should preselect it. If you additionally select something more, you should see the message "There are patches for package management available requiring restart of YaST. They should be installed first and all other patches after the restart. You selected some other patches to be installed now. Continue with installing your selection?" Did you see it? If you "continue with installing your selection", everything selected should be installed (so there is nothing to be left to next session). Of you decline it, you're back in package selector. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The log says that there _were_ 3 patches automatically preselected after the restart of YOU (they were saved before the restart). Maybe the "everything selected" was bought in by dependencies of these 3 saved, I can't say without more verbose logs. Than it looks like the package selector was closed with Cancel. So, I still think it behaves correctly and I can't say what causes your problem. Anyway, as I wrote above (comment 4), the logic of this is part of YOU was changed for 11.0 so your case is not relevant for 11.0. I again conclude that whatever your problem is, it is not worth fixing in 10.3. If you disagree, well than we may try to find a solution... but I hope you will agree. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I clicked nothing. I did exactly what I said in comment 10.

You're probably right. 11.0 will be soon, so I'll check in 11.0. I hope this bug will never appear.

I know how it is to resolve bug in something that's not worth fixing and I agree with you. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
