https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=888805 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=888805#c0 Summary: Bogus network configuration screen during install Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 201407* Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: yast2-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: nrickert@ameritech.net QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:30.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/30.0 My first (failed) install attempt had an ethernet connection, and there was no network configuration screen. My second (also failed) attempt was a laptop with no ethernet cable. A screen showed up, asking me to configure the WiFi adapter. I went through the steps to configure it. Then the next screen told me that "iw" is not installed, so the wifi setup failed. On a second attempt, I ignored the WiFi configuration screen (just hit "Next"), and was able to proceed to the next stop of install (reaching the problem reported as bug 888802 ) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I've just talked to Marius and you need libiw and wpa_suppicant; both are already part of the installation system, so in theory, wi-fi should work.
Michael, I don't know why yast2-network complains, though.
I've just checked and the three modules that, during the installation process, were said not to be available for installation had been, in fact, installed. That explains why yast2-network did not complain when I tried to set up Wicked after installation had completed. Although I've not yet succeeded in getting Wicked to work (another matter for another time) I have connected successfully by wireless using Network Manager. Could yast2-network be looking in the wrong place for the modules? Perhaps looking for them in online repos instead of on the DVD? Sounds crazy that it should try that before the network is set up but I've seen dafter things happen. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
