[Bug 809397] New: GDM on OpenSUSE 12.3 noy showing at all, just background
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=809397 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=809397#c0 Summary: GDM on OpenSUSE 12.3 noy showing at all, just background Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jorgeh@fsbcomputers.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0 Hey guys, GDM is not showing on a brand new installation of 12.3, at first I thought it was a Virtual Machine problem that could be fixed by turning off the 3D capability of the Virtual Machine, but this new installation is on my Laptop, NOT a VM, I noticed the same problem with any distribution when using GNOME as the Window Manager, KDM works just fine, but not GDM. You might probably let the people from GNOME know about this and work together on a solution. Also, GNOME works fine when using KDM, so it's just the GDM package that has some kind of problem. Thanks, Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Change Window Manager to GDM 2. Restart the computer 3. Actual Results: When GDM is supposed to show to login, nothing happens, it only shows the background. Expected Results: To show the login screen. There is no rush, right now I'm using KDM, but it would be great if they both work. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

This *might* give some clue (as it's clearly not a generic issue... which I'm happy about) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

That one looks fatal in my opinion... As a quick test, I would try disabling apparmor (just to see if this gets us no the right path! Not as the solution). And if this does, indeed, solve the case, then we know that there is an apparmor profile shooting in our feet. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
