To follow your suggestion, I reverted to clean Tumbleweed then installed just
blender-2.77a-236.2.x86_64.rpm, with debuginfo and debugsource from your
experimental repo, no Mesa or other libraries. Asan is there and I see a memory
leak warning when I run for instance: "blender --version" [1], but no warning
at all before the crash when running just "blender".
Now I'm single-stepping through the Blender initialization code with gdb to
catch the crashing site. It will take some time but it's doable.
