User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042700 SUSE/3.0.10-1.1.1 Firefox/3.0.10 Bought HP 2133 laptop (h/w info attached). Both wifi & suspend to ram worked w/ SLED10. Found that I really need Open SuSE on it. Dropped SLED, installed OpenSuSE, but some futures are broken now: 1. suspend to ram brokes screen on resume (restarting X, switching to console & back doesn't help) - have to shutdown/reboot to fix that. 2. wifi seem to be present but not working: hp-mini # iwlist wlan0 scanning wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Network is down And also it seems that screen resolution is less then was w/ SLED (don't remember exactly though) - now 1024x768 is maximum. ---- Wed May 20, 03:58:35 , ~ hp-mini # uname -a Linux hp-mini 2.6.27.21-0.1-pae #1 SMP 2009-03-31 14:50:44 +0200 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux Usually things work w/ Open SuSE very well allowing to do usual work instead of digging configuration. %) It was a surprise that notebook supported very well by SLED10 has problems w/ Open SuSE - AFAIK Novell's SLED10 is based on old OpenSuSE w/ some upgrades/fixes. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Just install OpenSuSE 11.1 on hp 2133 netbook. :) Expected Results: Since both suspend to ram & wifi were working normally w/ SLED10 - mebbe it's possible to apply support to current OpenSuSE? :)~ -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Though HOWTO in suspend package (/usr/share/doc/packages/suspend/README.s2ram-whitelist) doesn't explain where/what to edit to change the way system suspends. :( Using script is annoying, but where the s2ram options are for this PC is a not-yet-solved quest for me. ) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

After that I've removed kde4* from saved list & did zypper install `cat list | tr '\n' ' '` on reinstalled system (choosed fastest console server variant while installing). After that, with screen resolution 1280x768 the s2ram works OK in both cases: 1. without --force --vbe_save , just 's2ram' 2. 's2ram --force --vbe_save' both variants work from console & from X - screen is restoring normally (though both variants give some rubbish chars on the screen right before suspending). Unfortunately I've not saved initial package list (w/o removing *kde4* packages). Since both variants work - guess safest --force --vbe_save should be choosen for HP 2133 netbooks like mine. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yep, that's why we ship the the firmware downloader and extracter. We can't legally distribute the firmware ourselves. So what is the status of the rest of your report? It seems like everything is working correctly now. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The following should be considered to be default for hp2133: 1. due to unknown reason suspend to ram may fail, but w/ --force --vbe_save s2ram works OK, so next SuSE should use this by default. 2. 'd be nice to notice user while installing that he/she needs firmware for wifi to work. Just to point user to logs. Please change status of the bug as you think - I'dn't complain if it 'll be closed. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
