[Bug 506720] New: privoxy: not reliable when fetching data
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=506720 Summary: privoxy: not reliable when fetching data Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bluedzins@wp.pl QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Fetching data = regular browsing web pages. I was asked ( https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=504332#c2 ) to download newer version of privoxy, and I get a lot of such errors while trying to access web pages: " Empty server or forwarder response. The connection has been closed but Privoxy didn't receive any data. " When I previously used "official" privoxy (from regular repo) I didn't see such errors. For testing I am using browser without proxy set, and I simultaneously launched browser w/o proxy and w/ privoxy. The first one got the page, no problems. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

But I found immediately two other bugs: * this package _requires_ weather wallpapers from kde, I don't see relevance * /etc/rc.d/privoxy is broken, I was unable to get any connection using my USB modem, I had to remove the starting entry with my version: startproc /usr/sbin/privoxy --user privoxy.privoxy --pidfile /var/run/privoxy.pid --pre-chroot-nslookup example.org --chroot /etc/config 2> /dev/null with it, it works. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Ok, downloaded, I will check this issue. But I found immediately two other bugs: * this package _requires_ weather wallpapers from kde, I don't see relevance
rpm -q --requires privoxy, looks ok, I have installed privoxy 3.0.14, without kdebase4-wallpapers, if you can reproduce this, please open new bug report, and post sequence how do you install this package from my repo (zypper or rpm) also e.g. attach /var/log/zypper.log if you use zypper
* /etc/rc.d/privoxy is broken, I was unable to get any connection using my USB modem, I had to remove the starting entry with my version:
startproc /usr/sbin/privoxy --user privoxy.privoxy --pidfile /var/run/privoxy.pid --pre-chroot-nslookup example.org --chroot /etc/config 2> /dev/null
with it, it works.
this is related to Bug#504332 (you already wrote that you have your own startup script) ok so please test installed privoxy package and write here if you get : " Empty server or forwarder response. The connection has been closed but Privoxy didn't receive any data. " thanks -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

With previous version I used unaltered script (but I tried modifications too) only with sleep after establishing connection connection sleep 3 /etc/rc./privoxy restart -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
