I've tried it with static and ibft configuration for this interface, i also tried "auto" and "nfsroot" as start mode, the interface will not set up. After modification of the configuration i re-created the initrd. /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth2: #BOOTPROTO="ibft" #STARTMODE="nfsroot" BOOTPROTO='static' BROADCAST='' ETHTOOL_OPTIONS='' IPADDR='10.1.7.41/24' MTU='' NAME='82576 Gigabit Network Connection' NETWORK='' REMOTE_IPADDR='' STARTMODE='nfsroot' USERCONTROL='no' PREFIXLEN='24' ifup eth2 shows: eth2 device: Intel Corporation 82576 Gigabit Network Connection (rev 01) .. and the interface is still down and has no ip address. Settting up the interface with ifconfig works. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. During initrd, the primary interface is set up correctly, the iscsi login on the primary interface works. The secondary network interface is not set up, so the iscsi login on this interface (redundant networks, iscsi with multipath) fails with an timeout. After booting, it's also impossible to start the secondary interface with ifup, like described above. Tried with setting static and ibft as BOOTPROTO in ifcfg-eth2.

For ibft interfaces, ifcfg files are ignored in ifup: ibft config is authorative. You can apply the attached patch to scripts/functions for now. I'll test it and update the test package tomorrow. And yes, initrd is not using ifup but sets the interfaces up manually. ifup basically just takes care to not break them.
