The speaker is also controlled by this volume. The name is a bit confusing indeed. The problem happens because this machine has only two DACs but with two headphones (according to BIOS)... -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Audio is better now. Thank you so much. I wonder what can cause this. To explain a bit more background: the driver tries to assign a DAC (i.e. a volume control) for each output. Since you have three outputs (two headphones and one speaker), one output can't have a dedicated volume control. Right now, the speaker output is such, thus it shares the volume control with the first headphone. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Clicking on the kmix icon in the systray revealed the master volume was up, but clicking on "Mixer" revealed that the PCM volume was set to minimum. Raising that volume fixed the problem. I can imagine that some users might have more trouble solving this problem, so it would be good to fix it.
