https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=760926 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=760926#c0 Summary: "Stale NFS file handle" on SLES11 SP1 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SLES 11 Status: NEW Keywords: DSLA_REQUIRED, DSLA_SOLUTION_PROVIDED Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: pth@suse.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de CC: gmelo@novell.com, pth@suse.com, ubrueck@novell.com, ntsbugsiebint-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com, mhaefner@suse.com Depends on: 752874 Found By: Customer Blocker: --- +++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #752874 +++ SLES11 SP1 attached SR#10753255775.tar.gz includes: messages file, the two scripts, tcpdump Customer reported the following: When they copy a file from one NFS export to another NFS export and execute it in the new location, they get a "'Stale NFS file handle' error at the second line "cp submit.sh $submit_sh": Here are the scripts: kink: cat script.sh #!/bin/sh submit_sh=$HOME/submit_$$.sh set -x cp submit.sh $submit_sh chmod 751 $submit_sh ssh <some hostname> $submit_sh #touch $HOME/ cp submit.sh $submit_sh chmod 751 $submit_sh ssh <some hostname> $submit_sh kink: second script (started by main script): kink: cat submit.sh #!/bin/sh echo Hello rm -rf $0 kink: If they turn off NFS caching (noac NFS option) it does not show this error. If they start the main script on a SLES10 machine it will work without error independent of NFS cache settings. The server is NetApp Model Name: FAS6080 NetApp Release 8.0.1P4 7-Mode Mount info (same on both hosts): mucsdn22.imu.imc.local:/vol/home030/kink on /home/kink type nfs (rw,addr=10.216.54.15) I wasn't able to reproduce the problem, although I also used a LDAP exported /home/dir and another /nfs exported dir. Anyhow, I may have done something wrong and missing something and/or you may find something in the logs? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
