[Bug 461196] New: remote vnc session to openSUSE 11.1 crashes randomly
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=461196 Summary: remote vnc session to openSUSE 11.1 crashes randomly Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: omega@online.de QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Community User My server runs openSUSE 11.1 x86_64 as of Dec 18, 2008. /etc/xinetd.d/vnc contains: service vnc1 { socket_type = stream protocol = tcp wait = no user = nobody server = /usr/bin/Xvnc server_args = -noreset -inetd -once -query localhost -geometry 1440x1024 -depth 24 -desktop fs type = UNLISTED port = 5901 } Desktop environment is KDE 4. I connect from a openSUSE 11.0 machine with /usr/bin/vncviewer -shared -quality 9 hostnameofserver:5901 When changing wallpapers, adding widgets to the taskbar, or running a virtualbox, the connections crashes (not always but frequently), i.e. the vncviewer window vanishes. In most cases a reconnect only shows the empty X server background in the vncviewer and no kdm greeter. rcxdm restart on the server does not help. I have to reboot the server. I do not know what logs to attach. A workaround to recover the greeter would be appreciated in the first place.
