[Bug 483414] New: Unable to switch from SCIM to SKIM
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=483414 Summary: Unable to switch from SCIM to SKIM Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: homoludens1000@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.6) Gecko/2009012700 SUSE/3.0.6-0.1.2 Firefox/3.0.6 I think this problem has been around for a while (I've been having it since opensuse 10.3), but so far it doesn't seem to have been fixed. PROBLEM: On a new openSUSE installation, the SCIM panel program scim-panel-gtk is activated by default. However, it's setup dialog doesn't provide an option to switch to scim-panel-kde, and trying to start up SKIM doesn't work. WORKAROUND: The shell command 'skim -d -f' can force SKIM to start (and SKIM allows customization of the panel program), but this doesn't seem to be the optimal solution as it leaves other problems (I usually get too instances of SCIM running at the same time, one at the user, the other at the root level). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. (On every new openSUSE installation.) Expected Results: Either, SKIM needs to be activated by default in new openSUSE installations, or SCIM needs to include a dialog that allows switching the panel program. Since the latter doesn't seem to happen any time soon, perhaps the first one is more feasible. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
