No problem in text mode. Seems similar to Bug 638200. Had to reformat the boot partition on reinstall and eliminate update 3038 on running the Yast software update. System is a HP Compaq Pentium 4, 3.0 gigahertz with 1.5 gig memory and 75 gig hard drive. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install a fresh system with KDE graphical interface. 2. After logging in, run Yast software update. 3. Include all necessary patches. (will include 3038) 4. After update completes, reboot system.
