[Bug 644698] New: YaST breaks PAM configuration, there is no way to influence how it configures PAM
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=644698 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=644698#c0 Summary: YaST breaks PAM configuration, there is no way to influence how it configures PAM Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rob.fortune@live.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.8 SUSE/7.0.528.0 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/7.0.528.0 Safari/534.8 I have a custom PAM configuration in that I don't generally use password for authentication, this requires custom PAM modules. YaST destroys these configuration (although it does give fair warning it will in the file's comments) unless I chattr +i the files so it can't. I did an fgrep -i around in /etc/sysconfig for pam, there doesn't appear to be any way to influence how YaST configures PAM. It's my suggestion that a YaST module for PAM is considered, it doesn't have to be fancy but something that will allow me to have chattr +i on less files to stop YaST breaking them. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Not entirely sure, at some point (autoyast?) YaST overwrites these files if it is run. Actual Results: Unless files are chattr +i they are overwritten. Expected Results: Well, it does say in the comments it will do this so that is the expected result. This is a request for a feature enhancement. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
