https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=689194 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=689194#c0 Summary: X11:XOrg/Mesa: Bug Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: 3rd party software AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: strzol@gmail.com QAContact: opensuse-communityscreening@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: Yes After updating today form X11:XOrg repo, i'm experiencing high cpu usage from kwin and xorg processes. Also desktop responsiveness is very slow with desktop effects enabled. I'm with radeon driver from the same repo (on opensuse 11.4). I don't know if this is from the Mesa package update or xorg-x11-server or something else. I can provide more information if you help me where to look. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

There is a small improvement (i think) but performance is still far less than before Gallium3D. As soon as i open 3-4 windows (with desktop effects enabled) xorg process starts to utilize more cpu and desktop responsiveness drops significantly. I had to disable "Functionality checks" on kwin because it wants to disable desktop effects as soon as they started to become slow. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Opensuse 11.4 has 3d support for my card from the default installation. No need to upgrade to new kernel and new radio as I have done. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Performance seems to has improved a little. I have lower cpu usage now but: 1. As soon as i open an amount of windows (5-6) and especially with amarok (i think it has to do with a lot plasma objects on the amarok window) performance drops a lot and desktop seems slow. 2. I have noticed that after a period of time in screensaver mode (i think it happens with the GL ones) as soon as you exit the screensaver mouse is moves in chunks. There is a freeze in mouse movement (and all the desktop behavior) and i have to restart the X server. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

With the latest packages from X11:XOrg repo and kernel 2.6.39 performance is back to normal. Until something else occurs i suggest to close this. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
