[Bug 250539] New: opensuseupdater (zypper) does not show available updates
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=250539 Summary: opensuseupdater (zypper) does not show available updates Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sven.burmeister@gmx.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com During the installation of the hal-resmgr update something went wrong and the patch could not be installed. Hence it shows up when starting YOU. However, opensuseupdater does not show anything available, although it refreshes successfully. I'll attach the logs. As far as I can remember the update-source threw some error, I think one of the repo-files could not be read. Yet the update was shown as available and YOU tried to install it throwing another error message, which I skipped twice, expecting that if there was an error and the patch nor properly installed it would be shown as available again, if the update-source could be read again. Since the user relies on opensuseupdater this is a security issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

So I closed it again and refreshed opensuseupdater, which nonetheless showed green, i.e. no patches available. So I opened YOU again and made the screenshot. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I guess YaST forgot to delete the directory when I removed the source. Yet that would have been a long time ago. Anyway, the update was shown for some days after I instelled other updates. Today the arrow was green again although YOU showed the patch. I posted the updates_* and the two source-folders. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

The applet shows only needed patches. YOU shows patches you don't have installed, but which also are not needed (because you already have the problem fixed somehow). YOU should show this patches as non-pre-selected. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

So if it was not needed, why should YOU mark it to be refreshed automatically. But even if, since it was shown for some days in opensuseupdater and is shown when there are other updates available. So no matter which behaviour is correct, it is not consistent. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
