CY7C68300A EZ-USB AT2 USB 2.0 to ATA/ATAPI Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: hpsbrgd@googlemail.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/535.14 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/18.0.972.0 Safari/535.14 SUSE/18.0.972.0 I've switched from Ubuntu to openSUSE because of the Google Go support. However, my external USB 2.0 NTFS disk doesn't work under openSUSE 12.1. The disk case has a Cypress controller. Step 1: Following advice on SUSE Forum, I've re-installed Ubuntu to check if the disk still runs there, what it did. Step 2: Then I re-installed openSUSE 12.1. Surprisingly, the external USB NTFS disk now automatically showed up in Dolphin. All directories and files on the disk were accessible. A nice surprise. Step 3: Today I've run in YaST an online update of the system successfully (which was not possible over the last few days because the system always complained about a wrong checksum for dolphin-4.7.2-4.4.1.x86_64.rpm). Now the negative surprise: While the system update worked, the USB disk doesn't show up anymore. When I re-installed openSUSE, the installer identified the Cypress controller as follows: Cypress USB 2.0 IDE Adapter drivers: ums_cypress*, uas, usb_storage How can I get the external disk work again under openSUSE? Many thanks in advance. Peter Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Re-installed Ubuntu 2.Re-installed openSUSE 3.YaST online update Actual Results: See "Details" Expected Results: After the YaST online update, the disk should still show up and work in Dolphin. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
