For example, attempting to change the window switching method to "Cover Switch" fails with the message "The following desktop effects could not be activated: Blur, Cover Switch, Screenshot, Startup Feedback". Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Log in to KDE 2. Go to KDE's System Settings program 3. Go to "Desktop Settings" 4. Attempt to change the window switching effect to "Cover Switch" 5. Press "Apply" Actual Results: A message is shown in the bottom right corner of the desktop stating that "The following desktop effects could not be activated: Blur, Cover Switch, Screenshot, Startup Feedback", and Alt-Tab no longer switches windows. So the relevant information would be: What graphics card do you use? What driver? Did these effects work with another version of the driver and/or KDE? If yes, you should report this upstream. I am also unable to activate the relevant effects on my system running 11.4, with an Nvidia card and the official Nvidia binary drivers. It does not appear to be a card or driver-specific problem.
