If (and only if) you explicitly change the instance (in this case this means the architecture) of a package manually, that user selection should be honored and not be quietly overridden by the user. But if this is only a preselection, the dependency resolver is free to change it to satisfy other dependencies. This is intentional; otherwise it would be really hard for the average user to work out all the subtleties of those mixed architectures (x86_64 / i586). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

If this is really 10.1, this might be an old bug that is fixed with later version: Only the package release + version was checked, not the architecture. So it could happen that you'd see multiple installed versions if they had the same release + version, but a different architecture. Please check manually with rpm -qa. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

That suggests very strongly that the display issue is really the bug I wrote about in comment #8 which is fixed by now and shipped with 10.2: The architecture check had been missing when the UI tried to determine which one of the package instances is already installed, so all packages with the matching release + version are displayed as "installed", even if (in your case) only one of them really is installed. But it's really only a display problem. In the background, the right thing happened, as you can see from the output of comment #9. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
