[Bug 795252] New: grub2-efi missing on promo DVD; yast doesn't notice

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=795252 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=795252#c0 Summary: grub2-efi missing on promo DVD; yast doesn't notice Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: lnussel@suse.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com CC: coolo@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- grub2-efi is missing on the Promo DVD. Installation completes normally on an EFI system but at the end creation of the initrd fails. Obviously grub2-efi has to be put on the promo dvd but still I think yast needs to add the package to the requirements to make sure the system won't even start to install and become unusable if grub2-efi is missing for whatever reason. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

If we make it required then may force to install a type of bootloader to your system and that may not required by anything ... (Even YaST2 bootloader not requiring, say elilo and grub2, if user choose another one) The error is detected early in the installation (before you start installing your system). The question is why it continues silently without any error or warning and could this be changed ? y2log:2012-12-19 13:51:52 <1> linux(2770) [YCP] BootCommon.ycp:1125 Select bootloader package: grub2-efi y2log:2012-12-19 13:51:52 <1> linux(2770) [YCP] PackagesProposal.ycp:166 Adding resolvables ["grub2-efi"] type `package for yast2-bootloader ...... y2log:2012-12-19 13:51:55 <2> linux(2770) [YCP] Packages.ycp:1845 Pkg::DoProvide failed for grub2-efi: Das Paket ist nicht verfügbar -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
