[Bug 412481] New: Driver for printer deskjet HP 5150 missing
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=412481 Summary: Driver for printer deskjet HP 5150 missing Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: manoloudis4linux@yahoo.co.uk QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer I have the printer HP deskjet 5150. It's an old printer but it still works. It has been working with all versions of openSUSE 10.x It works with Centos as well as with Windows XP. After installing opensuse 11, I can't find it in yast->hardware->printer->configure->Basic Settings -> Model Name I click on change model->HP but I can't find it there. I tried the options "deskjet" and "deskjet series" but neither works. In the basic settings tab, the current connection states: usb://hp/deskjet%205100?serial=HU3BC1Y19Q98 I believe that the message above indicates that Linux can see the printer. Why can't I configure my printer to work? Do I need to install any additional packages? How is it that something that worked in the 10.x versions of opensuse, now doesn't work? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Anyway In my Centos 5.2 I see that rpm -qi hplip Name : hplip Relocations: (not relocatable) Version : 1.6.7 Vendor: CentOS Release : 4.1.el5.3 Build Date: Fri 12 Oct 2007 01:42:01 AM EEST Install Date: Sat 05 Jul 2008 04:01:16 PM EEST Build Host: builder6 Group : System Environment/Daemons Source RPM: hplip-1.6.7-4.1.el5.3.src.rpm Size : 12489532 License: GPL/MIT/BSD Signature : DSA/SHA1, Tue 11 Dec 2007 03:19:23 AM EET, Key ID a8a447dce8562897 URL : http://hplip.sourceforge.net/ Summary : HP Linux Imaging and Printing Project Description : The Hewlett-Packard Linux Imaging and Printing Project provides drivers for HP printers and multi-function peripherals. I guess this old version makes my printer print in Centos. Can I find a built rpm version of this driver for opensuse 11? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The printer now prints. I would suggest however that this driver should be included in default installations as it was in the 10.x releases of openSUSE.
