This part is not a bug. Some hardware needs to have the sound-up to be unmuted (there's soft and hard mute on those hardware), and also people felt it was better to not have the key toggle this. You can change this behavior with /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/toggle_mute in gconf. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Can you attach the debug output of running gnome-power-manager as written in http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs:GNOME#GNOME_Power_Manager ? It'll help know why it happens. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I did a run with 11.2 live KDE and this doesn't happen with it. Does this info help?
Maybe - at least it helps to narrow down the issue ;-) - Was your installed system updated from a previous version (11.1 or early 11.2 milestones) or is it a fresh installation of 11.2? - Do you have a /etc/X11/xorg.conf file? (Probably not if fresh 11.2 install) - Do you use a .Xmodmap file to modify your keyboard layout? - And finally: if you have KDE installed on your system, what happens there? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

There are some keycode changes in X.org - see bug 539135 and bug 551727 for details. Maybe they are causing the "funny" things you see. Both seems to be upgrade problems. In my case fresh install of 11.2.
- Was your installed system updated from a previous version (11.1 or early 11.2 milestones) or is it a fresh installation of 11.2? It was fresh install.
- Do you have a /etc/X11/xorg.conf file? (Probably not if fresh 11.2 install) - Do you use a .Xmodmap file to modify your keyboard layout? Nope, or I don't think so. I have tried with default layout and then with Acer laptop layout. But with both the same result.
- And finally: if you have KDE installed on your system, what happens there? I don't want to install it but if it really would help to solve the problem I can do it.
