If it still doesn't work after update, run alsa-info.sh as root with --no-upload option, and attach the output to this bugzilla. i use kde desktop i tried to go to sound module in yast and i done setup pulseaudio. rebooted computer and i got sound.
So the problem is fixed by that?

It's a mute control for the on-board sound controlled via ACPI, specific to Thinkpad.
