Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ma@sernet.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other With the new version (0.5.3-8) of virt-manager just installed, the qemu on localhost is shown, and I can activate/connect to it, but when I want to create a new virtual machine, the "Create a Virtual Machine" window opens up and selecting "Forward" only gives an error window saying "The hypervisor is not running." It's now September and there has been no progress on this bug. Disappointing to say the least.
Already late October now.... Is virt-manager / kvm completely abandoned?
Michael, you said you were able to get it to work. Can you (or anyone else) explain in a little more detail how? (Where did virtman-vminstall.diff come from?).
Yep. The patch I was referring to "Patch6: virtman-vminstall.diff" is from the source rpm pf virt-manager. Just install the source rpm, go to /usr/src/packages/SPECS/virt-manager.spec and you'll find it. This refers to /usr/src/packages/SOURCES/virtman-install.diff Looking at that patch, I was able to tell that this was replacing the original code by something xen-specific. I just commented out the "Patch6: ..." and "%patch6 ..." lines in the spec file and rebuilt.
