We worked around by letting Chrome do the printout as "Save to PDF" and printing that PDF in a second step. FireFox did not show this behavior at that time. Yesterday a customer addressed me noting that he can not use documents scanned to PDF from simple-scan (pls. see attachment). Switching the scan type from "Text" to "Image" yielded usable PDFs again. The only thing to note is a slight color difference (light blue instead of white for a printed page scan).
