[Bug 566282] New: Firefox crash when using Quick Find
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=566282 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=566282#c0 Summary: Firefox crash when using Quick Find Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox AssignedTo: bnc-team-mozilla@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jacob.hart+opensuse@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091103 SUSE/3.5.5-1.1.2 Firefox/3.5.5 I'm currently using Firefox version 3.5.5 on openSuse-11.2 The browser crashes when using the Quick Find feature to search for a text string in a web page. The crash is intermittent; it won't happen every single time Quick Find is used, but after browsing for a while it will happen eventually. I don't believe the crash to be content dependent. Immediately following a crash I can restart the browser, allow Firefox to reload the state of the browser, then use Quick Find on the page that caused the crash previously without reproducing the crash. The crash could possibly be related to openSuse's KDE4/Firefox integration. I suspect this because I ran Ubuntu Karmic on this system before installing the openSuse-11.2 release and did not experience any crashes related to Quick Find with Karmic's Firefox 3.5 / KDE4. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Browse around for a while (maybe a day or so) 2. Press '/' to activate the Quick Find feature 3. Begin typing search string into the Quick Find box *browser crashes* Actual Results: Firefox crashes. Expected Results: I expected the search string to be highlighted and located in content of the current the page. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

And I'm running basically the same configuration on one machine. Can you please try to get more debug information by doing what is described here: http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs:mozilla -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Will follow up with a backtrace if/when I'm able to trigger the crash from the debugging environment. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The result is somewhat anti-climatic, since the back-trace doesn't appear to be very useful. ..
