[Bug 811101] New: NetworkManager fails to reconnect after 3G connection dropped, requires ModemManager restart
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=811101 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=811101#c0 Summary: NetworkManager fails to reconnect after 3G connection dropped, requires ModemManager restart Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: gp@suse.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: Product Management Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=531269) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=531269) An annotated excerpt of /var/log/messages from one typical run This is with a notebook and a 3G USB stick: Bus 002 Device 007: ID 19d2:0063 ZTE WCDMA Technologies MSM K3565-Z HSDPA When riding on a train, and the connection breaks due to loss of signal, once I have a signal again (as indicated by the color of the LED on the USB stick), NetworkManager/nm-applet is not able to reinitiate a connection. Once I kill modem-manager, which then automatically restarts, this works again. This is close to 100% reproducible. (A former umtsmon developer indicated to me that this might be due to modem-manager not sufficiently reinitializing the USB connection/stick for the reconnect. Obviously, restarting modem-manager addresses this, but is crude, requires root, and leads to a delay.) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
