I've made some tests and it actually looks like that openoffice (2.4, 3.0, 3.1 and not only in Suse but also in Debian) can not open correctly file with ".RTF" extension. It shows the same Cyrillic text as test1.rtf. There seems to be some confusion about this bug. It seems to work for some, and not for others. I cannot reproduce this bug, so you'll have to provide more exact information if we are to fix it. In this program there is an option to export the text of an act in an ".rtf" (only) file, which I did. The file can not be open under win xp with OpenOffice neither. When I open it with mso-word, it shows the same garbled text as [your screenshot with] oowriter. I'm attaching a screenshot. When you look at the first line of the .rtf, you can see that it selects code page 0 {\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg0 so, the exporting software you are using is broken, it uses a deprecated version of .rtf (with code pages instead of unicode, but failing to select the correct code page) and you get what you ask for. Because here is the thing... I firstly opened the file under Suse and the text was garbled, then I opened it under win xp with oowriter and it was garbled again, finally I opened it with ms word (also with wordpad the file is ok) and it was just fine (ms word 2003 on my computer where I work, correctly opened the file, too). Then I tried to open it on a Toshiba laptop with ms word 2003 and again it was ok. Then I tried on an Acer laptop... again the same results. So four different computers and on every one of them, the file is correctly opened with ms word or wordpad and it is not with oowriter.
