Merely installing the package will not fix the bug. What is needed is to set GROFF_FONT_PATH system-wide so that groff can use the m17nised PostScript device instead. This will override the default PostScript device so it is recommended only if the system locale is not handled by conversion to ISO Latin 1 code page ({ man -t ISO-8859-1; } looks all right without any changes). It is necessary that the change required for all other locales is administered by somebody with a broader perspective and more experience in system configuration than your humble servant. Also, it'd be good to put a tag like "Provides: locale(pl:groff)" to the spec file, too, so that it'll be pulled in automatically. Which locales should be listed there? BTW, this package doesn't fix the same issue for non-latin locales like CJK. That is exactly the reason why the value of GROFF_FONT_PATH should depend on system locale. I would have to invent a script to generate the list of Provides as you suggest; this particular task is officially DEFERRED as far as I am concerned. Also, there is no need to provide locale(pl:groff) since groff itself has been m17nalised recently (hooray) and only translation remains to be done (but translation is a never ending task that requires continuous dedicated support); the present package provides (pl:grops) if you wish (this incantation is new to me, so do not quote me on that). In particular, it does not provide locale(pl:gxditview), to my big concern; I went for grops first because it is way easier given current support. It has nothing to do with translations or whatever, it's just a hint for yast/zypper. You can put multiple locales there, e.g. locale(pl,cz,ru:groff). So, we can list all relevant locales there, so that this package will be automatically installed at installation or updates ("zypper inr" would pick up). You may script the all supported locales, but it'd be enough to fill major locales that need this package manually. Meanwhile, we can set $GROFF_FONT_PATH in /etc/profile.d/zzz-groff-gs.sh that is installed by this package.
