This client has recently moved into separate package (ie. it now lives in yast2-online_update_configuration, no longer in yast2-registration). Karl, perhaps you don't have it installed? The yast software management (qt) features a menu entry "configuration" > "online update", which seems to invoke the Search dialog and not something especially related to the online update.
Is this still open? The Configuration menu is presented by the several plugins (qt,gtk,ncurses) when the YPkg_RepoMgr flag is passed to YPackageSelector. Apparently, the online update tool has been moved to a module that is no longer installed by default. There are therefore two solutions: a) introduce a YPkg_OnlineUpdate flag to YPackageSelector (requires work on packager, libyui, ycp-ui-bindings, qt, gtk, ncurses) b) add a rpm dependency from yast2-packager to yast2-online_update_configuration As a long-term solution, perhaps a) is the more elegant route, but it seems clear which one is the most expedient. Thus, it makes it functional again The code is basically duplicated, pkg manager already does the same thing with webpin client. Some cleanup and code re-use would be nice, but this is better than nothing (I'll try to make better patch if the time permits) No additional qt/gtk/yui code is added and no package dependencies are changed. Someone please test it. Thanks for the patch. Tested it. Upon clicking the "Configuration > Online update" menu item, I am shown a pop-up dialog that says YaST Online Configuration module needs to be installed -> Hit ok -> installation of required module done -> select the menu item again -> launches module to configure online updates. So far so good. However, after you configure online updates from this module and hit OK, you are returned to the package manager again but now the package manager shows only installed packages. Upon launching the repository manager from the "Configuration" menu item, one can see that all the repositories have disappeared. Not one subscribed repo is seen. Close package manager and start it again, repositories are back. No, but the currently released update for yast2-gtk partly solves the problem (only with the gtk interface of course) by omitting the menu item from the package manager. So this is what the update description reads for this bug bnc#609778 - yast software management (qt,gtk,ncurses): configuration > online from menubar does not work as expected.
