[Bug 254614] New: Hardware detection fails with black screen on openSUSE 10.3 alpha factory
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=254614 Summary: Hardware detection fails with black screen on openSUSE 10.3 alpha factory Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 2 Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: delgado@dfn-cert.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Ok, first look at the openSUSE 10.3 alpha on a DELL Optiplex GX620 with an attached LCD Monitor. In the hardware detection screen, the LCD screen goes blank it switches itself off. No key combination whatsoever (ctrl-alt-F<n>, ctrl-alt-backspace, ctrl-alt-del) will accomplish anything. The box is still running and when I remember to start the network + sshd after the network configuration, I can examine the situation. So if you need more information to tackle the problem, I could provide it. lspci output: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ/P/PL Memory Controller Hub (rev 02) 00:02.0 VGA compatible https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=254614 ------- Comment #9 from delgado@dfn-cert.de 2007-03-21 08:14 MST ------- Interesting! Sax starts and after some switching and a garbled screen I get an acceptable X configuration, which I can confirm by clicking ok. And _after_ sax shuts down, the screen stays blank. I just tried connecting a CRT instead of the LCD monitor (via VGA adapter cable) and in that case the text console is properly restored.
