[Bug 513022] New: xend hangs after domU shutdown
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=513022 Summary: xend hangs after domU shutdown Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Xen AssignedTo: jdouglas@novell.com ReportedBy: dmuhamedagic@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- After the last update from xen-tools-3.3.1_18494_03-1.8 to xen-tools-3.3.1_18546_16-0.1.1 and kernel upgrade from kernel-xen-2.6.27.21-0.1.2 to kernel-xen-2.6.27.23-0.1.1, xend gets into a busy idle loop using 100% CPU. It happens every time on xm shutdown or xm destroy. The only way to stop xend is to use kill -9. Doing rcxend stop always prints: RTNETLINK answers: File exists Can't recall if that was the case before. After thorough cleanup, i.e. removing all processes and shutting down xenbr0, it is possible to start xend again. However, then one can't start a domU. So far, the only way to deal with it was to reboot dom0. Don't see anything interesting in the logs. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

And I want to point that, your page_list_remove_head() with put_page_and_type_preemptible() ---> ... ---> free_domheap_pages() will list_del the same page twice. But I didn't see panic.
Please be more precise - while I don't think there's an issue, I'd like to understand your concern. Just to clarify: The get_page() at the top of the outer loop in relinquish_memory() prevents the page currently being processed from getting passed to free_domheap_pages() - this can only happen at the final put_page() at the end of the same loop, at which point the page already got added to a(nother) list. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I still don't see an update for OpenSUSE 11.1. Is there a new package? Do I miss a repository?
The maintenance process is in early stages - not sure when an update will be released. You can get packages from OBS though https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=xen&project=Virtualization%3AXEN%3ASLE11-Branch -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

are patches for SLES 11 released?
No, they have not been released. You will see a notice in this bug when they are. Please don't reopen the bug just to ask if maintenance release has hit the channel. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
