[Bug 961597] New: Opensuse ignores check interval settings
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=961597 Bug ID: 961597 Summary: Opensuse ignores check interval settings Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.1 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: illumilore@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:43.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/43.0 Build Identifier: When going to the system tray, then right clicking on the software updates, then software update settings, there is an option for check interval, but it is ignored. I have it set to weekly, but when messages about updates come up, the number of updates that they mention changes daily, indicating that it is checking daily and not weekly, ignoring the settings. Reproducible: Always -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

As a non-developer, and someone new to OpenSUSE, if there's anything I can do to help you all figure this bug out, please let me know.
Yes, you can indeed. Please install plasma5-pk-updates from the KDE:Frameworks5 repo. This contains a patch that should (hopefully) fix this. The repo's URL for Leap 42.1 is this: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Frameworks5/openSUSE_Leap_42.... Either add that as repo and install it via YaST's "Versions" tab, or run: sudo rpm -Uvh --nodeps http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Frameworks5/openSUSE_Leap_42.... (all the above should be on one line, but bugzilla broke it up on spaces) If this fixes it, we can think of releasing it as official update for Leap. Feel free to ask if you have further questions on how to install that. Thanks. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

This appears to have solved the bug for me! I installed this version yesterday afternoon, restarted KDE, and have not had any trouble since. Thank you for pointing me in the direction of that update. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Ok, thanks for the confirmation. I will make sure that we release that as update. But it might still take a while, other fixes might be worth to be added to the update too... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
