[Bug 1047704] New: /etc/profile overwrites PATH on WSL
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1047704 Bug ID: 1047704 Summary: /etc/profile overwrites PATH on WSL Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.2 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: cbosdonnat@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Original bug report from Microsoft developers: ----- %< ----- It looks like something in openSUSE is overwriting the path after the session starts, removing the Windows path entries that we append when we startup a new session. This makes interop more difficult, requiring the user to specify the absolute path to an exe, rather than relying on path resolution: tester@TEST-01:~> TRACERT.EXE bing.com If 'TRACERT.EXE' is not a typo you can use command-not-found to lookup the package that contains it, like this: cnf TRACERT.EXE tester@RTEST-01:~> /mnt/c/Windows/System32/TRACERT.EXE bing.com Tracing route to bing.com [204.79.197.200] over a maximum of 30 hops: [...] ----- %< ----- It turns out that /etc/profile is overriding the previously set PATH. Patch is cooking here, will send PR in a few minutes. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
