This problem was fixed in 11.3 but has appeared again. Here is the applicable changelog entry (I think) * Mon Aug 23 2010 puzel@novell.com - pinentry-qt-fix-1162.diff: fix active window issue (bnc#629502) Upstream Patch: https://bugs.g10code.com/gnupg/issue1162 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Send an E-mail with kmail 2. The E-mail is signed and a passphrase is needed. 3. Hmmm. Where's the window to input the passphrase. 4. Oh, there it is. Expected Results: The pinentry window needs to bubble up to the top so the passphrase can be conveniently entered. I'll try to install KDE and reproduce.
Just did with fresh KDE installation and freshly created account and it works fine for me - pinentry-qt4 window displays on top with focus. Jim, could you please post output of 'rpm -qa | egrep 'pinentry|kmail|libqt4' here? I think we can close this as my problem. My additional note above got me thinking, so I did the following $ cd $ cd .kde4 $ grep -lr pinentry Autostart env share shutdown share/config/kwinrulesrc share/apps/kmail/mail/inbox/cur/1300971022.11425.pkEQy:2,S share/apps/kmail/mail/inbox/cur/1300979080.11425.nbrNd share/apps/kmail/mail/inbox/cur/1300982005.11425.X1wak I looked in kwinrulesrc and found an entry. I was tempted to try to manually change it, but I got smart (for a change). System Settings Workspace Appearance and Behavior Window Behavior Window Rules There I found TWO rules related to pinentry. I think one of them may be related to my problem with this under 11.3. I deleted BOTH rules and pinentry works just as it should.
