https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=683884 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=683884#c0 Summary: Freeze upon resuming from s2ram Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: HP OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: is.55.10.11@live.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; InfoPath.2; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E; Creative AutoUpdate v1.40.01) Occasionally (1 out of 10 times), upon resuming from s2ram (sleep), the system would completely freeze (no mouse or keyboard response) with the simple graphic screensaver showing but frozen. Forced shutdown and a fresh power up would boot the machine to a properly running system. openSUSE 11.3 x86_64 KDE 4.4.4. rel 3 HP xw9400 AMD 64 Opteron OCZ Vertex 60 GB dedicated system drive-single boot 4 GB ECC RAM nVidia GeForce 210 512 MB nouveau default drivers Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click Sleep 2. Goes to sleep 3. Freezes on resume Actual Results: When in the frozen condition, a forced shutdown and fresh power up was necessary. Usually, s2ram worked normally. Expected Results: Resuming from s2ram should consistently function properly on a properly running machine. I tried the proprietary nVidia driver, luckily they had the RPMs. Here is the report: 1. Installed drivers 2. Reboot 3. Received these syslogd messages: vince@opensuse-11:/usr/local/bin> Message from syslogd@opensuse-11 at Mar 29 18:32:40 ... kernel:[ 288.527009] Uhhuh. Click Sleep 5. Immediate freeze with black screen 6. Forced shutdown with power button 7. Power up 8. Lost network connection. Had to reset fixed IP, DNS, and interface. OK. 9. Click Sleep 10. Went to sleep 11. Resume Ok but got a repeat of the syslogd logs as before 12. Repeated sleep/resume with no problems and no messages. 13. Tested three more times--seems perfect. I guess it is not as dazed and confused as before! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
