[Bug 461723] New: networks widget fails with wifi
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=461723 Summary: networks widget fails with wifi Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: peter@plord.co.uk QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- The new kde4 networks widget doesn't work that well with wifi. It does a scan correctly, but then always displays the add network connection screen when trying to connect. Also, it doesn't handle the wifi hot-key very well (if you enable wifi via the keyboard then you need to reboot before wifi is recognosed). Work-around is to keep using the old kde3 knetworkmanager in kde4. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=461723 User peter@plord.co.uk added comment https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=461723#c2 --- Comment #2 from Peter Lord <peter@plord.co.uk> 2008-12-22 13:59:20 MST --- Thanks. It appears to be worse than first thought. With /usr/sbin/NetworkManager running I usually see the following in /var/log/messages :- Dec 22 20:43:41 plordnote kernel: wlan0: privacy configuration mismatch and mixed-cell disabled - disassociate When this appears even kde3's knetworkmanager fails to connect. The only way I've managed to get wifi working reliably on opensuse 11.1 is to disable /usr/sbin/NetworkManager and use the command-line to startup the interface and dhcpcd. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
