[Bug 612677] New: Updates Broke Quanta Upload in x86_64 - i586 OK
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=612677 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=612677#c0 Summary: Updates Broke Quanta Upload in x86_64 - i586 OK Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE3 AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: drankinatty@suddenlinkmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- openSuSE 11.0, quanta-3.5.10-77.11.x86_64.rpm Desktops: kde3 (from the kde3-community repo) kde4 (from the 11.0 factory repo) After recent updates, the quanta 'upload' (F8} feature is broken on x86_64 platform. It works fine on i586 with the same quanta version and same settings. Description: When Upload Project is selected, the normal upload dialog appears, but then disk activity and cpu load skyrockets. The system sits there banging away on the disk for several minutes (a full 3 minutes - normal file query time ~ 3 secs) then when the file list is returned to show what files need to be uploaded, it is empty. (completely empty). With the same setup and same project on an i586 box, it works perfectly. Here are two screenshots showing what the dialog looks like right after you press the upload button (F8) and then what it looks like after it has crunched away for several minutes and quits: http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/bugs/kde3/quanta-dialog_01.jpg http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/bugs/kde3/quanta-dialog_02.jpg Here is a shot from the i586 box showing what it should look like: http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/bugs/kde3/quanta-dialog_03.jpg After pressing upload, the desktop if unresponsive. You can click something and about 20 seconds later, the click will be executed, so something has gone wild and is eating up all the cpu cycles. On the x86_64 box, when you start the upload, there are a large number of kio_file processes started, which may be normal, but I thought I would include that just in case. Here is a screenshot of top showing the file_kio process created. http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/bugs/kde3/quanta-lockup.jpg For testing, I downgraded quanta to quanta-3.5.10-77.10.x86_64.rpm as a check, same result. Checking /var/log/messages and looking for any log files in ~/ and in ~/.kde/share/apps/quanta, nothing is present. I don't know what update did it, but something has. I have since reinstalled quanta-3.5.10-77.11 and the same behavior is present. Quanta is one thing that has to work when 11.0 reaches EOL in a couple of weeks. Let me know if I can send you anything else -- anything :p Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
