http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=899394 Bug ID: 899394 Summary: qemu pc-q35-2.1 does not properly support -smbios file=... Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 201409* Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: afaerber@suse.com Reporter: lnussel@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- In openQA we use the -smbios file=... option to pass dmi tables in order to change the form factor of the system to laptop. The new default machine pc-q35-2.1 does not seem to support that properly though. /sys/devices/virtual/dmi/id/ doesn't contain any chassis fields in that machine. pc-q35-2.0 works fine. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=899394 --- Comment #1 from Ludwig Nussel <lnussel@suse.com> --- sample dmi data is here: https://github.com/os-autoinst/os-autoinst/tree/master/dmidata/dell_e6330 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=899394 --- Comment #2 from Ludwig Nussel <lnussel@suse.com> --- I guess somewhere in all this magic between provided files, command line arguments and default in hw/i386/smbios.c something goes wrong and tables are re-set. Legacy mode works. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The openSUSE Tumbleweed changed its development model at the end of year 2014. [1] Which means that most of the older bugs are reported against completely different product than the current release of openSUSE Tumbleweed. There is very high probability that this bug is no-longer relevant at all. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a current Tumbleweed installation of openSUSE, or you can still observe it under openSUSE Leap 15.0, please feel free to reopen this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it was not resolved under the old product.
