Let's continue here with GRUB2 only, I will clone the bug for the kernel panic. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=803405 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=803405#c3 --- Comment #3 from Jiri Srain <jsrain@suse.com> 2013-02-13 07:31:18 UTC --- Norbert, can you attach the GRUB2 configuration to validate if it is correct? The panic may be related to bootloader config bug, therefore not cloning the bug yet. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

So, it's the supplied grub.cfg without any modifications. (see Attatchment 3) Additional information. Target is a 128GB SSD with GPT and Windows 8 already installed. O.K. I made a few additional tests: Booting NON-UEFI into rescue mode results in: ============================== Mounting /... [FAILED] Failed to mount /. ============================== systemctl status mount reports: mount.service Loaded: error (Reason: No such file or directory) Active: inactive (dead) ==================================== A 12.2 "net" CD boots just fine into rescue system. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

ASUS Notebook F201E with real UEFI BIOS. 2. Intel i5 processor on MSI P67A-G45(B2) mainboard with some kind of UEFI BIOS too, but as far as I know, it's always booting in a standard BIOS way. I never have had a UEFI bootloader on this machine. When booting from DVD, I can see the GRUB welcome text, but with the opensuse splash sreen (shown for a few seconds before the DVD boot menu is shown) it starts using strange characters. I have attached two screenshots, one from the opensuse splash screen, and one from the boot menu itself. These photos are showing the boot menu of both PCs mentioned above. Using the same openesuse DVD 12.3-RC1 x86_64, on a virtual box machine or on my Acer D105 Netbook works fine. But they are both using a standard BIOS (non UEFI). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Afterwards the kernel boots. All kernel messages are readable and the Graphical installation interface starts fine on my ASUS F201E. But using the boot menu without beeing able to read anything is realy annoying. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I only have 3 options: - Installation - Rescue System - Check Installation Media That is how it should look like?
