Zeng --- So I tried old kernels and old snapshots of Tumbleweed. It looks like the last working snapshot is 20190305 with Linux 4.20.13. I used tumbleweed-cli to facilitate the testing. At first, I just switched to old snapshots but only installed old kernels (using --oldpackages option for zypper). No one kernel works from the latest to 4.20.13 (5.0.3 failed to boot). Then, I "upgraded" to old snapshots using following command, ```sudo tumbleweed switch --install 20190305``` and found that iwlwifi did not crash in snapshot 20190305 but crashed in snapshot 20190314 (Linux 5.0.1 as we skipped 5.0.0 in Tumbleweed). I guess other packages might at different versions as well in such operations. I should add that the crash still happened even when the system (snapshot 20190314) was booted with Linux kernel 4.20.13 after I upgraded from snapshot 20190305 to snapshot 20190314.

The fact that it started regression after 5.0.x kernel update appears logical, but maybe the condition triggering the bug is a combination with something else.
