[Bug 737539] New: Google Chrome plugin location (~/.mozilla/plugins) != OpenSUSE plugin location (/usr/{lib,lib64}/browser-plugins
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=737539 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=737539#c0 Summary: Google Chrome plugin location (~/.mozilla/plugins) != OpenSUSE plugin location (/usr/{lib,lib64}/browser-plugins Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Dirk.Hohndel@intel.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/535.7 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/16.0.912.63 Safari/535.7 Google Chrome appears to look in ~/.mozilla/plugins first when looking for plugins. An old plugin there is picked over plugins installed in the official plugin directory. So even with the latest Flash plugin installed in /usr/lib64/browser-plugins, I still get the "outdated plugin" warning as an older version of the flash plugin was in my !/.mozilla/plugins I am not sure if this is an OpenSUSE bug or if I did something strange when installing / restoring from my backup... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. put bad plugin in ~/.mozilla/plugin 2. get warning from Chrome 3. install latest version of plugin (ends up in /usr/lib64/browser-plugins) 4. restart Google Chrome and have it warn you again and propose to install the new plugin Actual Results: old plugin from ~/.mozilla/plugins is used Expected Results: latest plugin in /usr/lib64/browser-plugins should be used Maybe the installer can check if an older version exists in the user's ~/.mozilla/plugin folder and at least warn the user about this during the install? I repeat - I am not sure that this would have happened with a clean install. I restored some data from a backup and it's entirely possible that I manually put the bad, old plugin into ~/.mozilla/plugins Still, it would be nice if zypper / YaST noticed and warned me about this. It took some googling to find the issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
