[Bug 204930] New: "libgcc_s.so.1 must be installed for pthread_cancel to work" during system startup
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=204930 Summary: "libgcc_s.so.1 must be installed for pthread_cancel to work" during system startup Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 4 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Very early during system startup, the following message appears on the screen: "libgcc_s.so.1 must be installed for pthread_cancel to work" libgcc_s.so.1 is of course installed. I don't know where this comes from, grepping /var/log for libgcc does not give any results. So it seems to happen even before boot logging starts. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Could you please run mkinitrd and report the output? Maybe it is missing from some config file or something fails to autodetect this? I'll reboot now and report back whether that makes the warning go away. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

The current mkinitrd implementation using ldd to detect used shared libraries cannot detect that and thus does not include this library. I'd recommend just hardcoding this library into mkinitrd to copy in any case. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
