[Bug 888666] New: resume fails after successful hibernate
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=888666 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=888666#c0 Summary: resume fails after successful hibernate Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: f.st@arcor.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:30.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/30.0 resume fails to bring up a working system. No corresponding log in /var/log/messages. Booting at first iniates, but always hangs with screen going to powersave (no signal from iGPU). System cannot be pinged from other workstation. After hard reset the OS boots normally. Workaround: install Kernel-desktop 3.15.6-40.2.gfdb2dde from Tumbleweed Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. After OpenSuse 13.1 initial Setup (with or without patches) 2. Hibernate (from KDE) 3. Try to resume Actual Results: screen gets black, goes into powersave mode, because iGPU doesn't provide video signal, system is also unreachable via network. Expected Results: The system should resume the previous system state. Sleep (Suspend to RAM) works fine. Update to kernel-desktop 3.15.6-40.2.gfdb2dde from Tumbleweed resolves the problem, though with the drawback of GPU problems, which I'll try to fix changing the desktop effects (Avanced) composting type and qt graphics system settings. This Bug file is to document the problem and the possible workaround. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Please give hwinfo output, for example. I guess the only way to find out and fix openSUSE 13.1 kernel is to bisect the problem, but I don't think it's worth if the problem is already fixed in the upstream. So, Most likely we'll close as RESOLVED/UPSTREAM. But it's anyway good to gather more information in Bugzilla. Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

VirtualBox: 1. without Guest-additions installed works fine and is NOT reproducible 2. with guest-additions same behavior as with 3.11.10 Kernel I will make more testing with different hardware tonight. I guess it has something to do with video sub-system init. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
