[Bug 336881] New: Package installer asks for wrong media ("CD 2" instead of "DVD 2")
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=336881 Summary: Package installer asks for wrong media ("CD 2" instead of "DVD 2") Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: btimothy@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- After installing openSUSE 10.3 from the retail boxed DVDs, I selected a bunch of extra packages to install (GNOME Development, C/C++ Development, and Kernel Development patterns). I ran into a couple problems: 1. When it asked for the second disc, it wouldn't let me press the eject button on the hardware or eject from the desktop's right-click menu. Fortunately the "Eject" button in the package installer worked. 2. It asked for "CD 2" instead of "DVD 2" -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The only solution is to use the generic string ("Medium X") which is user for the other URL schema (like ftp:// or http://). Or "Disc X", since both CD and DVD are 'discs'.
But here is yet another solution! Pass the product name or even better a *Medium label* to that callback. Not sure whether we have such thing just yet. I imagine it like this (different media labels for 11.0): - CD media: "OpenSUSE 11.0 CD" - DVD media: "OpenSUSE 11.0 DVD" - FTP: just "OpenSUSE 11.0" Then we can show a message like this when requesting media (media::MediaChangeReport::WRONG): Please insert 'OpenSUSE 11.0 CD #X' into the drive. Another solution could be showing the repository name there instead. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
