In GNOME: Main menu -> Shutdown button -> Hibernate 2. Wait a few minutes, and the computer will be powered off 3. Do whatever for the weekend 4. Power on machine Monday morning Upon un-hibernation, the system has various problems. Some that I have observed include: According to top: 28192 root 20 -5 0 0 0 R 9999 0.0 73194:17 events/1 28186 root 39 19 0 0 0 R 9999 0.0 104622:08 ksoftirqd/1 The mouse and keyboard appear to "freeze" for intervals ranging from about 3 to 15 seconds. Michael: Can you attach dmesg output after suspend.

Please try nohz=off highres=off on command line. Hmm, and add processor.max_cstate=1, too. Not being a notebook does not neccessarily mean no deep C states.

Any chance to try opensuse11 alpha kernels, or recent mainline?
