https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=206533 ------- Comment #2 from judas_iscariote@shorewall.net 2006-09-18 16:16 MST ------- the reporter has tested the php5_hardened packages from the buildservice and that solved the problem. the only needed change to the spec file, is to remove the option --enable-sigchild from the general build options, that's all. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=206533 ------- Comment #3 from judas_iscariote@shorewall.net 2006-09-19 01:00 MST ------- Today I sustained a conversation with Dmitry ( one of the Zend Engine main authors) via MSN and he confirmed that the SIGCHLD handler **was** needed in the past to workaround and external, Oracle related bug in older oracle libs. the actual oci8 extension will work correctly even with this option disabled (with somewhat current oracle libs) He told me it may be removed at some point in the future. ;-) at this point, I can confirm is harmless to remove it beacause of 1. that conversation. 2. seen no negative effects since I disabled it in buildservice packages. 3.users has reported other issues with it, with the mail() and program execution functions in **some** cases. Petr, now you decide... ;) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Cristian, the third case means new problem when I disable "sigchild" option?
no, in fact, generates a benefit ;) in short, it is no longer needed and eveything will work as expected. ;P -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=206533 ------- Comment #7 from Franz.Sirl@lauterbach.com 2006-09-21 04:56 MST ------- I've had this combo apache2-2.2.3-9.1 php5_hardened-5.1.6-49.1 subversion-1.3.2-0.1.6g (based on Olafs srcrpm, 1.3.x-branch + the fix to properly report the bug) running for a few days now here and can confirm that my SLES10 server is stable again with it. No more strange subversion commit hook fails. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
