[Bug 417873] New: OpenSuSE main menu is not accessible to users of accessibility therefore should be replaced with the traditional Gnome menu when accessibility in Gnome is enabled .
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=417873 Summary: OpenSuSE main menu is not accessible to users of accessibility therefore should be replaced with the traditional Gnome menu when accessibility in Gnome is enabled. Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: d@digitaldarragh.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: IS&T During and after the installation of OpenSuSE, if accessibility is enabled in Gnome, the traditional main menu should be used instead of the OpenSuSE specific one. This OpenSuSE created menu is not fully accessible to users of the Orca screen reader. At the moment, if a user wants to enable the standard gnome main menu, they need to do the following. Take into account that users who are performing this action will most likely be blind therefore will never use a mouse. 1. The user needs to right click on the bottom right side of the screen. 2. Remove from panel needs to be selected. 3. Again, the user needs to click on the bottom right side of the screen. 4. Select add to panel. 5. Press tab once then arrow down to traditional main menu. 6. Tab to add then tab to close and hit enter. If a user just types the option, the focus is set to traditional menu however Orca will not speak it. This does not seem to be an Orca bug as the functionality is there to track options in a list view and this works in other areas of the Gnome desktop. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Maybe a specific orca script needs to be written for it. As Scott prefers to track gnome-main-menu bugs here, I'll keep the bug in bnc. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
