[Bug 624057] New: Eclipse (JVM) crashes when updating/installing any plugin
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=624057 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=624057#c0 Summary: Eclipse (JVM) crashes when updating/installing any plugin Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Java AssignedTo: bnc-team-java@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: alex.richardson@gmx.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=377290) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=377290) Hotspot error dump User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100626 SUSE/3.6.6-1.2 Firefox/3.6.6 When I run Eclipse (a fresh install) and try to install any plugin the JVM crashes. Here I am using openJDK, with Sun JVM Eclipse doesn't start at all (and I don't even get a dump). Eclipse version used is the 3.6 package for C/C++ developers. I updated openSuSE from 11.2 using zypper dup, it wasn't a fresh install, and before everything worked fine. I have no idea what is causing the JVM to crash, it seems to be some problem when loading a NSS related native library. Eclipse is essential for my work so I'd rate this as a critical bug especially since it did not happen while running 11.2 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Eclipse 3.6 2. Install EGit from the Helios repository 3. Start installation Actual Results: Crash Expected Results: Plugin gets installed -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

However OpenJDK still doesn't work. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

However now I have an even more serious issue: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=245815 https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=320931 https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=320487 Should I create another bug for this problem or are the upstream bugreports enough? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

About eclipse - you use the third party package from eclipse.org, where I cannot help you (in fact I'd be not helpful for our eclipse package, too ;-)), so leave it in upstream. Thanks a lot for testing the openjdk, will be released asap. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
