http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=973707 Bug ID: 973707 Summary: Failure to communicate with kernel device-mapper driver Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.1 Hardware: All OS: openSUSE 42.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: k.fb@vink-slott.dk QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 671357 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=671357&action=edit Yast install screen with error popup It seems impossible to make a clean install including LVM. May be same bug as Bug 950934 - but encrypt or not does note matter Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Clean install from PXE boot 2. Default setting to all Yast questions except disk layout -> LVM based ext4 (and textmode server to save time) 3. Start install -> see attached pic and y2log Expected Results: An LVM should be created and the Install should proceed. The problem seem to be related to the device mapper. If I perform a clean install and try to add a LVM based partition later, I get an error with looks like the same problem: linux-y9f2:~ # vgdisplay --- Volume group --- VG Name super System ID Format lvm2 Metadata Areas 1 Metadata Sequence No 2 VG Access read/write VG Status resizable MAX LV 0 Cur LV 0 Open LV 0 Max PV 0 Cur PV 1 Act PV 1 VG Size 3,00 GiB PE Size 4,00 MiB Total PE 767 Alloc PE / Size 0 / 0 Free PE / Size 767 / 3,00 GiB VG UUID POruf6-o6Ug-VMKx-1Whz-TfNe-jZG6-XCQg8I linux-y9f2:~ # vgscan Reading all physical volumes.
