Google search results point to this being possibly preload related. Does this issue still occur after uninstalling preload package and reboot?
If you can tell me how to do this I will be glad to try it. Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

? You don't know how to install a RPM and reboot your machine?
rpm -e preload reboot
This I can do, and will when I hit the office Monday. I was trying to read too much into the phrase the "preload module". The old "Speak Friend and Enter" problem. I removed the preloda RPM and confirmed using rpm -qa | grep preload The problem still occurs Bob -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

2.6.38-rc5 shows several Radeon driver bug fixes. Will these be backported to the 2.6.34 kenel used by openSUSE 11.3?
No, not even for openSUSE 11.4 which is going to ship with 2.6.37.
Can I be helpful in testing?
Yes, by testing with openSUSE 11.4 RC2 (to be released next week), if you can still reproduce that issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Now that 11.4 has been released, could you give it another try? Should be possible to test with the LiveCD. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I've upgraded to 11.4 and the vidoe driver crash while running rkn.c can no longer be reproduced. Two interesting points. 1. After the upgrade, the login screen looked fine, but once any user logged in, the desktop was corrupted, with striations and random pixels scatterd about the screen and appearing on top of any window displayed. After contemplating the Etch-A-Sketch I had as a kid, I tried using the"Configure Display Settings" window to tun the screen upside down and then right side up - and all was fine. It looks like something was confused and needed to be reset. 2. I. got some system hangs that seemed to be associated with moving windows to the edge of the screen. No messages in the log files and not reproducable, so no bug report for now. Both times this happened it required a power cycle, after which the desktop coruption described above reappeared (with same solution working). So this rmains an 11.3 bug, but seems resolved in 11.4, with maybe a different bug appearing. How should status be marked?
